Broadband and Second Life Do Not Play Well Together

From Oct. to the end of Jan. I was stuck with a miserable dial-up connection and couldn't use Second Life at all.  So when in Feb. I decided to spring for the pricey Virgin Broadband at $55. per month I was happy that I could open Second Life again. Just when I was starting to have fun after two successful days of being on Second Life, it stopped loading right. I couldn't see my avatar, and the rooms just weren't loading well at all. I tried 2 different servers, cleared their caches, cleared my browsers caches and still nothing. Then today I thought I better check my Broadband usage chart. OMG, I burned through more data in 2 days on Second Life than in a week on normal computer browsing. I can't do SL at this rate or my Broadband won't last the month I need it to for business use and things like Facebook and Blogger. I'm so sad that I won't be able to do SL, unless Verizon gets around to adding more portals for DSL in the Lucerne Valley.  Even $55 is a burden for limited Broadband (per month) and I can't have it running out in a week. So sad. And I still don't know if Second Life is having PMS or if it just will never load right again.  At this rate I can't sit around twiddling my thumbs waiting for it to load. If at the end of the month I have any time left and need to burn it up fast before I pay again, I'll try loading SL again.

After watching the movie Ghost Rock I fell in love with the character Savannah.  The next time I dressed my avatar, I realized I had unknowingly made her like Savannah.

Taking A Day Off

Last night I was completely mesmerized by SL.  Too many men, too little time. I was Miss Popularity last night. I never wanted to go to bed.  But finally I was so sleepy I was walking into walls on SL. Today I'm not logging onto it at all. It's so addicting. And I have so much real life stuff to do.  Mounds of it. Like laundry and dishes and sketching and taking photos and packing to move.  Piles and piles of stuff that has to be sorted, sold, given away or tossed.  Ugh.  No wonder I want to stay on SL so much.  Look at the alternatives?

Wystra

This is a new look I made for my first ever second life Alt.  Her name is Wystra. I hadn't used that account in a long time but I reactivated it when I found that to convert Lindens to cash I had to buy something on Second Life first to get the meter running.  You have a cap on how much you can cash out that rises over time, but it doesn't start counting until you make a purchase. Even if your account is 10 years old, it starts at day one when you put in your payment info.

Calico Kitty had some amazing hair on special for 55L. That 55L I spent earned me about 4000L in a club last night. Everyone loved my hair. Here are some photos I took on SL last night. The hair is called Addison II.  There is also an Addison  I that looks like this in front but is short in back.

Treehouse Landmark

I rented a treehouse on SL at this group over here. I've never owned a home there before.  Putting square furniture in a round house is a lot like putting a square peg in a round hole.  Frustrating.  And for some reason I can't sit down on any of the furniture. I can sit down on them if I open them in a sandbox, but if I open them in the treehouse, no luck. Weird.  I'm also having trouble getting in and out of the door. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But I'm learning new things and having fun.

About the Bling

There is one pair of heels I am fond of wearing on Second Life because I like the way they look.  It puzzled me when people would randomly comment that they loved the bling on my shoes.  I didn't see anything sparkly about them.  So today it came up again and it dawned on me that my resolution was too low.  So I tried to raise it and then I saw the sparkles. So Yay!  But then when I clicked on 'apply', and looked at the club I was in, a lot of body parts went missing and hair was floating around. Yikes!  So I put it back on the low setting.  What good is it to see your shoes sparkle if you have no legs?  Strange. If you click on the photo so you can see her foot, you'll see the 'no blng' version that I see.

Rainbow Gown

Last night on Second Life I randomly found this great rainbow dress in one spot and this cool waterfall in another, so I took a bunch of photos. Of course the frozen view of the waterfall isn't nearly as exciting. I used a belly dance animation override (AO) that I also got for free to do the poses. Click on the photos for more detail.

Today was interesting.  A new guy on the rebound asked me to be his babe. He also wanted my Facebook, and my photo, and my phone number. I wish he would ask a question I could say yes to.
